The problem, in your own cakes
Every empty square below is someone who wanted a pandan cake and never heard back. Production was never the bottleneck. The inbox was.
What is actually happening
And they compound. Every hour spent on one makes the other two worse.
WhatsApp and Instagram messages arrive faster than one person can read them. You answer whichever look quickest and clearest, so the rest go cold. Not because they were bad orders, but because they were further down.
Orders live on paper, in your head, and scattered across chat threads. Nothing answers the question "what am I baking on Saturday, and who has paid?" So orders get missed, and you cannot prove they were not.
Lalamove is booked one order at a time, two days ahead, with the fee settled separately. That is three touchpoints per delivery, and a money conversation on the day the cake arrives.
The platform
Respond.io is a customer conversation platform. It brings WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and TikTok into one inbox, adds an AI assistant that knows your business, and keeps a record of every customer and every conversation. It is the technology behind the ordering experience you used at Nizzcookinglab.
Set up properly, the impact shows in the first month. Respond.io is top rated on G2 for return on investment.
The assistant works with your menu, your customer history and your CRM, so context is not lost when a chat moves between AI and you.
As a preferred partner, Respond.io gets new messaging features early. Your setup stays current without you doing anything.
Add channels, staff or locations later without rebuilding. Pricing falls per contact as volume rises, so scale does not punish you.
24/7 human and AI support, included at every tier, not held back for enterprise customers.
Used by Toyota, McDonald's, Decathlon and Subway, and by small teams like yours. Lamarsa Coffee, a Malaysian brand, grew sales 50% across six countries using chat commerce on it.
The design
You said you are not ready for a storefront, and I agree. What you need is the layer underneath one: something that answers every chat, writes every order down, and tells you what to bake.
How it sounds
It confirms what is being ordered, quotes the right delivery fee for the zone, nudges toward the two box bundle, and hands over to you the moment something is unusual.

Before and after
Investment
Each builds on the one before it. Nothing is wasted if you start smaller and grow into the next.
Six months of support: bug fixes, menu and price updates, delivery zone changes, and assistant tuning as your business shifts. Valued at RM 3,000, included at no cost. At the end of six months you receive a written runbook, a recorded walkthrough, all credentials, and one live training session, so the system is fully yours to run. Support after that is available at RM 250 per hour, or as an annual plan.
What you actually get
Rough sketches rather than finished screens, so you can see the shape of each option before deciding.
The platform subscription
Respond.io's Growth plan is USD 199 per month billed monthly, roughly RM 840, or USD 159 (about RM 670) if you pay yearly. This is paid by you directly to Respond.io, not through me. There is a free 7 day trial, so you can see it working before you commit.
Put plainly: the subscription pays for itself at 28 boxes a month. You were fielding 300 enquiries in a few days. And unlike a part time hire, it answers at 2am, on Sundays, to fifty people at the same time, and never forgets to write the order down.
Pricing is per Monthly Active Contact, meaning you pay for the customers you actually talk to, with no markup on WhatsApp's own fees. Your plan starts at 1,000 active contacts a month.
Running costs
All of these are paid by you directly to the providers. I will set every account up in your name, so you own everything from day one.
| Item | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Respond.io, Growth plan | USD 199/mo ~RM 840 | USD 159 (about RM 670) on annual billing. Free 7 day trial first. |
| WhatsApp conversation fees | Pay as used | Charged by Meta, billed at cost with no markup. Small at your volume. |
| Hosting and Google Sheets | Free | Your dashboard runs on Vercel's free tier and Google Sheets costs nothing. A custom domain or a paid tier is optional later, only if you outgrow it. |
| Payment gateway | Optional, later | Not needed now. QR and bank transfer work fine at this stage. Automate collection when volume justifies it. |
Ringgit figures use an approximate rate of RM 4.20 to the US dollar and will move with the exchange rate.
Recommendation
At RM 15.90 a box, a Lalamove trip can cost more than the cake. A flat zone fee plus a minimum order turns delivery from a loss into a margin, and roughly triples the average order.
Free delivery above RM 150 in Zones 1 and 2. You will under recover slightly on close drops and over recover on far ones, and it evens out. Batching several drops on one route works in your favour.

If Option B looks right, we can start the WhatsApp migration this week and have ordering open again before the momentum from your reels is gone. That is the part with a clock on it. The 270 people who did not hear back will not wait forever, but most of them will still be there in two weeks.
